FHNA Hosts Juanita Drive Corridor Study Open House and Candidate Forum
Do you travel on Juanita Drive with a car or bike or via bus? Do you have an opinion on what’s good or have suggestions for improvements about that primary route serving 10,000 vehicles daily between Kirkland and Kenmore?
You are invited to share your thoughts with City of Kirkland staff at a public meeting starting at 5:30pm on Monday, October 7th at Finn Hill Middle School. City Council candidates will be in attendance for a Q&A forum held later. Kirkland Fire Chief Kevin Nalder will also provide an update on the new Finn Hill fire station location search.
The open house will be held in the school auditorium at 8040 NE 132nd Street with discussion of the Juanita Drive corridor. City of Kirkland staff will share its recommendations and gather comments until 7pm regarding proposed improvements for Juanita Drive. Preliminary recommendations are expected to be presented to the City Council in November so this is the last best public opportunity for comment. A Finn Hill Neighborhood Alliance (FHNA) meeting then begins at 7pm with the fire department presentation. At 7:30pm, a one hour candidate forum takes place with all City Council candidates expected to be in attendance. Five city council positions are on the November election ballot with two of the seats being actively contested. FHNA is soliciting questions from neighborhood residents for the candidates to address. Questions can be submitted via email to Matt Pruitt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
