Kirkland Events Foundation helps nonprofits build community with Volunteer Kirkland

Michelle Sailor and Paul Erikson discuss the various programs of the Kirkland Events Foundation including Kudos Kirkland community stewardship and the new Volunteer Kirkland volunteer management system. On Saturday, the Kirkland Events Foundation participated in the Senior Council's Viva Volunteers Fair and at the event launched Volunteer Kirkland, the city's newest and most comprehensive volunteer management system boasting the names of hundreds of our community's best. Volunteer Kirkland was developed by The Kirkland Events Foundation to ease and simplify the efforts of event organizers in managing volunteers and to make volunteering easy.

The Foundation is working closely with the Kirkland Downtown Association in developing this comprehensive volunteer management system for events such as the Kirkland Shamrock Run, Classic Car Show, 4th of July Parade and Kirkland Summerfest. All local event organizers are welcome to participate in this free program as we rapidly grow our database of hundreds of volunteers eager to give back to our community.

How the system works

Volunteer Kirkland is a free service which ends the headaches of volunteer scheduling and allows you to schedule yourself for the positions and tasks which you want. You can make changes to your schedule at any time and we will even send you a friendly reminder. Volunteer waivers and forms are all taken care online so you don't need to fill out forms each time you volunteer. Sign up once and you are good to go. It's simple and easy to use.

The Volunteer Kirkland management system doesn't replace the need to recruit volunteers, but it certainly eases the process of communicating, managing and retaining volunteers.

We know that trust is an essential aspect of any volunteer organization. Volunteers do not want their email address or contact information shared with anyone. We know this because we are volunteers just like you.

Currently, there is a call out for volunteers to participate in downtown's Operation Clean Sweep event on April 20. In May, the next volunteer opportunity in the system is the Kirkland Half Marathon on May 12.

Its all about community

The Kirkland Events Foundation was founded on a simple premise: our strong community contributes immensely to our high quality of life. As a nonprofit, all of proceeds from The Foundation's efforts go directly back into our Kirkland community nonprofits. Through our events such as Kirkland Summerfest, our volunteerism, our stewardship and our grants, the Kirkland Events Foundation truly lives up to its tag line: Building community, one smile at a time.
