Kirkland Kiwanis Foundation Supports Pantry Pack Program

The Kirkland Kiwanis Foundation has announced a series of quarterly donations to Pantry Packs, a Redmond based non-profit that provides nutritious meals for children in the Lake Washington School District during various times in which other food programs are not available.

Founded by Evergreen Middle School librarian Shauna Yusko, Pantry Packs now provides meals to over 500 children in 30 Redmond and Kirkland schools.  Shauna became aware that there were a growing number of kids in the community without enough to eat at home over weekends and holidays when school breakfast and lunch programs are unavailable.  Pantry Packs works to alleviate these food insecurities by providing a food pack filled with kid-friendly food for the weekend.

Children who are identified by school counselors, teachers, and administrators, are able to take their packs home each Friday, containing enough food for 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner, and numerous healthy snacks, bread, and produce when it is available.  They currently serve students in the Lake Washington School District, ranging from preschool through high school.

This program relies entirely on donations and the generosity of their many supporters and volunteers. For information on the Pantry Packs program, or if you would like to donate or volunteer, please contact them through their website: or their FaceBook page:
