The inaugural Kirkland SummerFest was filled to capacity for much of the two day festival which took place August 10th and 11th in downtown Kirkland. The event started off with Shakespeare in the Park on Friday night followed by a full day of art, music, food and family fun on Saturday. The four performance stages were big draws bringing crowds from all around to hear the over 20 bands playing at Kirkland SummerFest.

The all-volunteer team that organized, built and presented Kirkland SummerFest did an amazing job. The organizers listened to the local merchants and learned from other event organizers to craft a unique festival celebrating everything Kirkland. And to the astonishment of many, all of the entertainment was free. Even the beer & wine garden had no cover charge.

Thank you to all of the Kirkland SummerFest volunteers!

The accolades from guests are still coming in:

My 3 friends and I (ages 52 to 66 and all live music/dance lovers) all had a great time. The music was fabulous. A couple of my friends regularly have attended local summer festivals in Seattle for 10-25 years and they found the quality of the musical groups at Summerfest the best they have ever heard overall. We were not fans of each type of music played there (which is fine - something for everyone), but as music lovers weappreciated that the groups (except one) were seriously quality musicians, and various genres of music were represented. The organizer(s) of the beer garden shows pulled in some amazing musicians. Of course, we came FOR the music; even so, we were pleasantly surprised and entertained all day and into the nite. I personally was there for 10 hours... -- Terry

See you at SummerFest 2013!
