Kirkland Firefighters are winding up their annual toy and food drive and welcome your donations of food and toys

The Kirkland Firefighters have been doing a Christmas Donation program in one manner or another since as long as anyone can remember. It is believed to have started in the early 1970’s as a “Christmas Basket” program for local needy families. Back then FF’s would gather food and gifts for local families in need and distribute them in person one night just before Christmas. As the program has grown over the years partnerships have helped increase the scope of the outreach and increase the local benefit. Kirkland Firefighters are currently partnered with Hopelink. On the 19th of December Firefighters will take the last loads of donations to Kirkland’s Hopelink at the 11000 block of 120 Ave Ne.

This year’s donations have been good but a final surge is being sought. If you would like to help please bring any amount of non-perishable food items, new unwrapped gifts or even monetary donations to any Kirkland Fire Station from 7 AM to 9PM. The Firefighters will make sure all donations make to Hopelink for redistribution to those here in Kirkland in need this holiday season.
