Kirkland Celebrates Annexation with Festivities at Juanita Beach Park, June 1 - 3


The City of Kirkland is pulling out all the stops in welcoming the residents of Finn Hill, North Juanita and Kingsgate as official citizens of the city with events planned for June 1st, 2nd and 3rd. -- a recognition sought for decades by many in the annexation area. The Annexation Celebration will consist of:

  • June 1 - Open House at Kirkland City Hall - 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • June 2 - Business Breakfast at Casino Caribbean - 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Seating is limited and to make a reservation, email
  • June 3 - Community Celebration at Juanita Beach Park ( starts at 6:00 p.m.) including a few words by elected officials and music by Back Burner, Juanita High School Pep Band and Kamiakin Jr. High School Jazz Ensemble. The movie The Sandlot will be presented as an outdoor movie in the park provided by Carillon Properties.


The theme of the Friday Annexation Celebration is One City; 1 Kirkland. The festivities will be located in the  northern portion of Juanita Beach Park as the beach side will not be available due to ongoing renovations. From 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the Juanita Friday Market will be operating at the park. The Kirkland Police Department and the Kirkland Fire Department will have vehicles on display.

Following speeches by elected officials at 6:00 p.m., the Kirkland City Council will be serving fresh strawberry shortcake to all in attendance. Music will start at 7:00 p.m. and the outdoor movie will begin at dusk. All festivities will be free.
