Girl Scouts volunteer to stencil Kirkland storm drains

On Saturday, Global Youth Service Day, The Girls Scouts partnered with a local marine conservation nonprofit, to stencil storm drains in Kirkland.  The City of Kirkland supplied the stencils and paint and Live Ocean volunteers provided the labor.

The “Dump No Waste—Drains to Lake” stencil is a friendly reminder that only storm water should enter the City’s drainage system. The Girl Scouts learned that they live in the Cedar River /Lake Washington Watershed.  Everything that is put down a drain or into the garden eventually makes it way into a local stream, into Puget Sound and the Ocean.

Well done, Girl Scouts!

Thank you for volunteering to improve our community!
