The City of Kirkland has just released the following notice of public hearing:
CITY OF KIRKLAND NOTICE OF HEARING
PROPOSAL: To consider amendments to the Kirkland Zoning Code to allow office uses on the ground floor within limited, identified areas of Central Business District (CBD) zones 1, 2, 3, and 8 (areas under consideration highlighted on map).
CURRENT REGULATIONS: To encourage active pedestrian-oriented streets, office uses are not allowed as ground floor uses along streets in many CBD zones. The areas highlighted on the map are being considered as “end of block” locations, where pedestrian- oriented shopping patterns may not be as conducive to retail uses as in other parts of the CBD.
APPLICANT: City of Kirkland, Department of Planning and Community Development
PUBLIC HEARING: Will be held by the Kirkland Planning Commission on February 24, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., (or as soon thereafter as possible) in the Council Chamber at 123 5th Avenue. The Planning Commission will prepare a recommendation to the City Council for their final decision at a public meeting. The date of the City Council meeting has not been set.
PUBLIC COMMENT: During the hearing, anyone may speak or submit written comments. Before the hearing, written comments may be submitted to the Planning Commission in care of Jeremy McMahan of the Planning Department.
