Additional National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarships Awarded to Kirkland Students

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced today that two Lake Washington School District students,Grant Jenkins from Lake Washington High School and Colin Tremblay from International Community School, will receive National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarship financed by two different colleges.

Grant Jenkins received a National Merit Kenyon College Scholarship. Kenyon is a private, coeducational college of Liberal Arts and Sciences with an enrollment of nearly 1,500 students, located in Gambier, Ohio.

Colin Tremblay received a National Merit Grinnell College Scholarship. Grinnell College is a coeducational, nonsectarian, and privately endowed and supported college with an enrollment of 1,200 students located in Grinnell, Iowa.

Including Jenkins and Tremblay, ten Lake Washington School District students received National Merit scholarships this year. Previously announced awardees received National Achievement, National Merit Corporate-Sponsored, National Merit College-Sponsored or National Merit $2,500 Scholarships.

More than 1,900 additional winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities were announced by NMSC today. Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among Finalists in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
