Hazard Quest; Kirklanders invited to participate

Wondering about landslide risk in your neighborhood?  How about slumping, sloughing, and seeps? The Office of Emergency Management is part of the City of Kirkland Geo Hazards Mapping Team which is partnering with the University of Washington in an initiative to identify geographic hazards in the city. Kirkland residents are invited to participate in this Hazard Quest on Saturday, October 1, 2016.  At 9:00 a.m. we will meet at Kirkland City Hall to have a half-hour training on what to look for and to install a free geo-locator app on our phones.  Participants will then go out into the City for an hour or two to snap photos of potential geo hazards. The photos will be compiled along with time, date, latitude and longitude (part of the app).  You may survey your own neighborhood or any Kirkland neighborhood.  If you wish, you may return to City Hall to debrief and enjoy a free lunch.  Sound like fun?  Register at www.KirklandCERT.com
