Last year the U.S. Post Office changed the address of The 101and Merrill Gardens from XXX Kirkland Ave to XX Main St S. Unfortunately, no one (including the Post Office) seems to know where Main Street South is located. In case you are wondering, it is the small cul-de-sac leading to Merrill Gardens on the south side of the Kirkland Ave and Main Street intersection.
Residents are having some of their mail labeled "returned to sender" and not delivered. One longtime Kirklander is frustrated with the situation saying, "We have to tell all of the delivery people to put in the Kirkland Ave address or else we don’t get it. I got my Mother’s Day flowers 4 days after the date."
The situation is frustrating to say the least. Some are getting charged late fees on bills that were not delivered. Others are seeing delivery trucks pass by without knowing they are in the right place.
Part of the problem might be that mapping companies like Google Maps and Apple Maps have yet to label the cu-de-sac. Delivery trucks relying upon these resources will understandably make errors.
Frustrated residents have contacted government departments with little success. Perhaps contacting Google and Apple and Tom Tom and Garmin or other mapping companies is a solution?
Let's hope this problem is solved soon, lest you keep hearing a lot more lines like, "the check is in the mail."
