A New Addition to Kirkland’s Stair Circuit

Have you passed by this new connection on the Cross Kirkland Corridor at 116th, and wondered where it went? Turn left at the top of these steps to access the new stairs.

If you like to run or walk stairs for fun and exercise (and maybe just to get where you’re going) you will be pleased to know that there is a new stairway in Kirkland! The stairs connect the north end of the Highlands neighborhood to the Cross Kirkland Corridor. They were built by volunteers as part of the Neighborhood Safety Program, which uses funds from the 2012 streets levy for pedestrian and bicycle safety projects chosen by a panel of representatives from all of Kirkland’s neighborhoods.

Twenty-six volunteers from three neighborhoods spent 229 hours on the project.

Red lines indicate stairs. The new stairs are in the upper right.
