On November 9, 2015 at around noon, Kirkland Police Department (KPD) responded to a request from Evergreen Healthcare to help locate a male who had left the facility. The hospital contacted the KPD out of concern for the individual. The police subsequently located a 20 year old male with obvious injuries lying in the cul de sac of the 14300 block of 118th Avenue NE after several 9-1-1 calls from victims reported that a male wearing “scrubs,” and later reported having no clothes, assaulted them. Initial information reveals five assaults on different persons at different locations occurred within a 30 minute time frame. Victims reported being assaulted by a male by punching, with a stick, and a pitchfork. It was reported that the pitchfork was stolen from a residence. As multiple 9-1-1 calls were being received, KPD, including the K-9, converged on the known location of the fourth assault while Kirkland Fire Department began to give aid to known assault victims. Witnesses reported the suspect jumping over fences and running through backyards. KPD notified Robert Frost Elementary School which initiated lockdown protocol.
During the fifth assault where the suspect entered a home and struck a female occupant, the suspect fled by crashing through a closed bedroom window, sustaining significant lacerations. A neighbor in an adjacent cul-de-sac notified 9-1-1 of a naked male collapsed in the cul-de-sac.
KPD officers arrived and found the suspect unresponsive, bleeding profusely. KPD Officers applied a tourniquet and KFD assumed aid support, transporting the suspect to Harborview Medical Center.
None of the assault victims suffered life-threating injuries. KPD Patrol Officers and Detectives continue to investigate the numerous assaults perpetrated by the suspect. Criminal charges are pending the completion of this ongoing investigation.
