Leadership Eastside Announces Leadership Program Graduates

LE's unique two-year program serves the greater Eastside region by helping regional leaders develop their skills and connections to make a difference in their local communities through leadership roles in business, volunteerism and public service. The organization has been a driving force in building community leaders since 2005 when LE evolved out of the former Leadership Institute and Advance Bellevue programs. With more than 400 LE alumni, students and community partners representing the entire east King County region, LE is making a significant impact on the Eastside. More than 140 Eastside organizations are currently benefiting from LE members' volunteerism serving on nonprofit boards, commissions and chambers and many program participants who are holding or have sought public office including 3 current Eastside Mayors.

Leadership Eastside, the region’s preeminent leadership enrichment program announces the graduation of The Leadership Eastside Class of 2014 on May 22, 2014 at Russell’s in Bothell.

This year’s graduates join a powerful network of more than 1500 of the region’s leaders in business, non-profits, and the public sector who work together to address our community’s greatest needs.  Over the course of two years, members of the class of 2014 have deepened their understanding of the seven elements that make up a healthy community and have demonstrated their ability to effectively apply an adaptive leadership approach by successfully completing a series of sustainable community projects, including:

·         Supporting the launch of a Bellevue Arts District

·         Developing a community-wide wellness effort for the City of Issaquah.

·         Advancing the efforts of kindergarten readiness

·         Providing books to children via health care/pediatric offices

·         Designing a process to get meals to people who can’t get to a food bank

·         Combating isolation among spouses of H-1B visa-holders

Said Imagine Housing’s Jeni Craswell, LE Board Chair, “The LE board is so proud to congratulate and welcome the Class of 2014.  Becoming an LE alumnus is not just a wonderful accomplishment, but it also carries both privileges and responsibility. We look forward to working with this class as they out and share what they know - in order to make the Eastside a better place.”

Karin Duval, Managing Director says, “Throughout these two years this class has impressed us with their ability not only to grasp the sophisticated LE leadership models, but to use them effectively in our community. Their continued commitment to the greater good is extraordinary. I can’t wait to see all that they will do in the future.”

The Leadership Eastside community is proud and honored to have this year’s Class of 2014 join in the efforts of convening leadership for the greater good in East King County.
