Maybe this time it won't take eight days to get a winner when Kirkland's two big public high schools play each other in baseball.
Juanita and Lake Washington play baseball at 7 o'clock Friday night at Lee Johnson Field in downtown Kirkland and the weather forecast is good for a change this season.
The previous intra-city game, won by Juanita 3-2 with a late rally, was notable because it took eight days to get played because of rainouts. That scheduled April 16 game was rained out three times, was started once then stopped by a downpour then finally completed last Thursday. The eight-day span also included scheduled games that were played against other teams and a Sunday off.
Lake Washington improved to 6-4 in the KingCo League and 9-7 overall with a 3-1 Monday with win against Mount Si. Juanita (4-6, 5-9) lost 12-2 at Mercer Island.
