Kingsgate or Evergreen Hill? Residents Petition City for Name Change [u]

132nd Square Park

Update: this article originally said that the City had changed the name of the Kingsgate neighborhood to Evergreen Hill. This was in error. Only the neighborhood association changed its name to Evergreen Hill.

We received a press release from Michelle Burdue representing Kingsgate residents interested in maintaining the original name Kingsgate. The City did not formally change the name after annexing the area which was named after several large residential developments which helped define the area that sits above Woodinville to the north and east, I-405 to west and Evergreen Health and the rest of Totem Lake to the south.

We asked Burdue a few questions listed below, followed by the press release and link to their online petition.

Q: What is the reason for the petition?

A: A group of Kingsgate Residents were unaware of the group of residents that want to change the name to Evergreen Hill (which has nothing to do with this area).

Q: Why is this important to you?

A: To maintain the past 50 years of this area and keep the businesses which include Kingsgate in their names.

Q: Were you involved in the re-naming process which resulted in the name, Evergreen Hill?

A: No.  We are against changing the name of Kingsgate.
