Emergency stormwater pipe repair prompts closure of 99th Place NE, Dec. 26-31

Due to a collapsed stormwater pipe, a portion of 99th Place Northeast, in Kirkland’s Juanita Neighborhood, will be closed December 26 through 31, 2014 so the City’s contractor can complete the repair. The City’s emergency contractor, Johansen Excavating will be replacing the collapsed stormwater culvert and will have 99th Place Northeast north of Northeast 113th Street closed from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily. To perform the work, the contractor will remove three large Cottonwood trees, as well as part of the sidewalk on the east side of 99th Place Northeast. It will also excavate a deep trench in the roadway and will backfill and/or cover the trench at the end of each day.  Drivers are asked to follow the detour route of Northeast 116th, Northeast 112th and 108th Avenue Northeast. To prevent flooding until construction begins, a pump was installed on December 20.  For questions or concerns, contact Christian Knight, Neighborhood Services Coordinator, at 425-587-3831 or cknight@kirklandwa.gov.
