Professional Experience: Carpenter, 25 years, Former Organizer, Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer
Political Experience: Longtime political, community, and labor organizer and activist. Candidate for King County Council in 2007. Precinct Comittee Officer in my neighborhood for 10 years.
Civic Involvement/Community Service: Chair of presidential political caucases 2004 & 2008; Local District Legislative Action Committee member working on issues important to Kirkland citizens; worked in organized labor effort to obtain & mentor skills, education, and apprentiship training for young people entering the workforce; worked in coalition with Jobs for Justice & other non-profit and community groups to improve conditions of working families.
Kirkland City Council is a non-partisan position. Are you a member of a political party – if so, with which party are you registered? Democrat. I am committed to serving in this non-partison position by continuing to work for widely held community values.
How would you describe your political views? Progressive; comitted to fiscal responsibility and accountability. I believe in open and transparant governmant.
Why have you chosen to live in Kirkland? I have made Kirkland my home because of its unique character, natural beauty, and strong sense of community.
What do you hope to achieve, if elected to the City Council in 2009? I will ensure that we balance the budget fairly in tough times. I will support widely held community values over narrowly focused interests. I will prioritize public safety and work hard to maintain our quaility of life. I will preserve Kirklands character and protect our precious environment.
