Several years ago a friend asked me to join the Kirkland Senior Council. Although I had volunteered for different charity functions over the years, this was the first time I had participated in a volunteer council in Kirkland. The Senior Council got me hooked on civic involvement and I was off and running. Involvement in the Kirkland Senior Council led to more community involvement. I began attending neighborhood meetings, city council meetings, and joined other organizations with a Kirkland focus. This past year I’ve been a member of the Kirkland Alliance of Neighborhoods, KAN.
Community activism and my passion for Kirkland came together with my “day job” as a Realtor for Windermere Real Estate in the form of blogging. I started blogging about real estate, Kirkland, and specifically my neighborhood, the Kirkland Highlands, just about the same time as I joined the Senior Council. I write about things I feel are important such as seniors, kids, animals, trails, charities, and many other things.
I also like to write about what a great city Kirkland is. We have a unique setting on the lake and I love it. I want people to know what a great place this is and blogging is a terrific way to demonstrate what Kirkland is all about.
But Kirkland, like many places, is undergoing a lot of change. I stay involved and contribute, because I hope to see Kirkland continue to grow, while maintaining its unique character. Kirkland’s character is what sets apart.
