Kirkland Nourishing Network deeply appreciates the contributions of those who donated food boxes and volunteered their time to help this year's Thanksgiving school break food box program. Through your generosity, we provided supplemental food to two dozen of Kirkland's neediest families, including over 100 children.
In addition to those who signed up to bring food boxes, six additional people brought boxes, which allowed us to cover the gap when a couple of people weren't able to provide the boxes they had signed up for and to also reach out and assist an additional family.
Many people brought additional items beyond those on the standard shopping list, including pumpkin pies, chicken, turkeys, eggs, cheese, baby food and formula, and much more. The families who received these items were grateful.
We had plenty of volunteers on-site all day, and kept the boxes moving so nobody ever had to wait more than a couple of minutes!
We appreciate once again the Kirkland Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for hosting the food collection and distribution at their meetinghouse in the Evergreen Hill neighborhood.
Together we showed once again the generosity of the people of Kirkland and that by working together we can address food security needs in our community!
People have already started signing up for December food box donations at http://www.mysignup.com/decemberholidays; thanks in advance to everyone who will help then!
