Eastside Science Café - Asteroid mining: Science Fiction or Opportunity?

wilde-rover2

The Widle Rover Irish Pub and Restaurant hosts the monthly Eastside Science Café. The topic to be presented on Monday, June 10 is asteroid mining, a venture which has caught the interest of more than a few billionaire entrepreneurs.

Not just an idea out of science fiction, asteroid mining is gaining traction. New companies plan to harvest raw materials, ranging from water to precious metals, from these rocky near-Earth objects. Join Chris Lewicki of Planetary Resources, Inc. to explore why asteroids are attractive sources of a range of raw materials and how this fits with the future of space exploration.

If you haven't yet attended one of the monthly Eastside Science Cafés at the Wilde Rover in downtown Kirkland, give it some consideration. These presentations are fascinating by scientists and professionals are well worth attending. See you there!
