Third annual “Massage for the Military” program gives free sessions to honor military members and promote stress reduction through massage therapy

On Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24, active-duty military members and their spouses are invited to receive a free one-hour therapeutic massage session at any of Massage Envy’s 23 Puget Sound locations. The event marks the third annual “Massage for the Military” program created by local Massage Envy clinic owners as a way to honor each community’s military heroes and their families by providing beneficial stress relief through therapeutic massage.

Last year, Puget Sound Massage Envy clinics provided nearly 700 free massage sessions and expect to exceed that number this year. The free massage sessions are by appointment only and participants are encouraged to book as soon as possible as the spots fill up fast! To reserve a free massage session, contact any Puget Sound Massage Envy location directly; a list of area clinics and contact information is available on the Massage Envy website: http://www.massageenvy.com/regions/WA/Seattle.aspx. Military IDs will be required at check-in.

“Massage is a great therapy for reducing stress and has also been linked to lower blood pressure, deeper relaxation and better sleep,” said Barney Nelson, Regional Director for Massage Envy in Washington state. “We can only imagine the stress that military personnel and their loved ones experience, so as a way to say thank you for all they do, we are honored to give the gift of our healing hands.”

Participating clinics are located throughout the Puget Sound area in the following cities: Bellingham, Bellevue, Bonney Lake, Covington, Everett, Federal Way, Gig Harbor, Issaquah, Kirkland, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Newcastle, Olympia, Puyallup, Redmond, Renton, Seattle (Capitol Hill, Northgate and West Seattle), Shoreline, Silverdale, Tacoma and Woodinville.

While in previous years the “Massage for the Military” program was limited to one day, this year Massage Envy is spreading the free massage sessions over five days in order to provide greater scheduling flexibility for those who wish to participate. For more information, visit any of the individual Puget Sound Massage Envy Facebook pages.

Regular therapeutic massage membership programs continue to gain in popularity as more consumers recognize the health and wellness advantages, which also include headache relief and chronic pain management. All Massage Envy clinics offer an introductory rate of $39.99 and a monthly membership for $59.99, as well as individual appointments. The monthly membership includes a customized one-hour massage session, additional massages at a special member rate, the ability to earn free massages and upgrades, rollover capabilities for unused massage sessions, family add-on specials, retail discounts and more.
