Recycle your oil and win this holiday season!
The holiday season usually means a lot of butter, oil, and other cooking byproducts that often find their way down drains and into the City’s sewer system. As a holiday reminder to keep fats, oils and grease out of the drains and pipes in homes and turn them into biodiesel fuel, the City of Kirkland and General Biodiesel will host a Cooking Oil Recycling Day on Saturday, November 17. The event will be held at Kirkland’s used oil collection tank at the North Kirkland Community Center, 12421 103rd Ave NE. Used recycling oil will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Information on biodiesel and recycling will be available and a raffle will be held for great prizes including a deep fryer. For more information, contact Kirkland’s Recycling hotline at 425-587-3812 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The collection tank is open year round 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to bringing your used oil to the collection tank, oils and sauces can be captured by wiping plates, pots and pans with paper towels and placing the paper towels in the gray compost cart.
