Oct. 13 event to be held at the Lake Washington High School Parking Lot
Same great event, new location. Thanks to Lake Washington High School, the City of Kirkland will hold its annual Fall Residential Recycling Collection Event on October 13, 2012 at the Lake Washington High School parking lot located at 12033 NE 80th Street. The hours of operation are 9 am to 3 pm. Kirkland residents can bring a variety of difficult-to-recycle items to the event such as appliances, electronics, tires, motor oil, batteries, clothing, porcelain toilets and sinks, mattresses and box springs and futons, Styrofoamtm blocks and packing peanuts, and fluorescent tubes and bulbs. By popular demand, the City now offers free confidential paper shredding with a limit of five (5) file size boxes of paper (15” L x 12” wide x 10” D) per participant. For a complete list of accepted items, limitations, and user fees, please visit www.kirklandwa.gov and search “Special Collection Events” or call the Kirkland Recycling Hotline at (425) 587-3812.
These popular recycling events have historically been held at the Houghton Park and Ride. Since 2005, Kirkland residents have diverted over 1.3 million pounds or 679 tons of materials from the landfill for reuse or recycling these biannual residential collection events.
