Radio Disney AM 1250 meets Cadyn
On August 11th, Kirkland SummerFest will be coming to downtown Kirkland, bringing a wide variety of kids entertainment including Radio Disney. Last Wednesday, volunteers from Kirkland SummerFest visited the Seattle Radio Disney AM 1250 studios to conduct an interview. Here they share their experience inside the studio at Radio Disney:
There was at least one of us who couldn't get through the door of the Radio Disney office in Seattle fast enough. As she bounded into the outer office her eyes were drawn to the end of the hallway, and she was off and running again toward a giant poster of someone called Justin Bieber. There is nothing quite like the enthusiasm of a 6 year old on a mission, and we hope this 6 year old's enthusiasm is contagious. The wonderful folks at Radio Disney were kind enough to give of few of us SummerFest volunteers an opportunity to discuss the festival during a recent radio interview. They were hoping we would bring one of our Youth Art Show exhibiters along to talk about what art means to the young artist, what inspires her, and perhaps describe one or two pieces of work being submitted to the show. Cadyn was our young ambassador, and she did a fabulous job of describing her artistic process, her love of art, and her excitement about the upcoming youth art exhibit at SummerFest. It was a joy to watch her in action as she talked about the art she brought along, but it was her reaction to all the Disney paraphernalia that gave us all our biggest laugh. Every character pictured on the walls was cause for a shriek of delight and a lengthy explanation of the many storylines surrounding each show. I now know a thing or two about “Shake it Up” thanks to Cadyn!
We hope all young artists ages 4-18 will be encouraged to submit a work of art to the Youth Art Show on Aug. 11th. The submission process is simple, just follow the links on our web site: www.kirklandsummerfest.com. While visiting our web site please take a minute to browse around and familiarize yourself with all the great activities for people of all ages. The entire festival is free to the public, so bring the family and don't forget the camera! While SummerFest offers a wide range of artistic endeavors including dance, music, food, performance, and visual art, it is the family friendly aspect of this event that will be a welcome surprise to visitors far and wide.
We want to thank Dayna and Alex at Radio Disney for their generosity and gracious attention. And, of course a big thank you to Cadyn! The interview, brilliantly managed by Dayna, and expertly guided by Kathy Feek, our fearless leader in everything Art, was broadcast on Sunday, July 29th.
See you at SummerFest!
