Reading in the Rain – Books for Kids: Weekly Book Recommendation Column Announced

Kirkland resident, Amy Musser, will begin a weekly book recommendation column for KirklandViews.com. Each column, posted to the site on Sunday, will include 3 picture book recommendations for kids ages 0-10.

The first column will be posted on Sunday, March 25th. Books will be chosen to fit a weekly theme and to coordinate with other Kirkland events for kids and families.

Amy Musser is currently taking graduate classes through Texas Women’s University to earn her Masters in Library Science. She plans to become a children’s librarian at a public library and is focusing on programming and services for the 12 and under crowd.

Musser earned her B.F.A. in Theatre/Stage Management from Millikin University in Decatur, IL and spent several years as a professional stage manager. One of her goals is to combine her theatre and library science education and experiences to make reading fun, as well as educational, for kids.

Musser is also the author of a daily blog, Picture-Book-a-Day. Each featured book includes a summary of the plot and suggestions for reading the book at home, at storytime, or in a classroom. Ideas include ways to extend the book through crafts, rhymes, songs, fingerplays, and other activities.

Kirkland Views is proud to welcome Amy and her Picture-Book-a-Day column. Look for Amy here each weekend.
