Reminder: Oversized Vehicle Registrations Due December 31, 2011

The Kirkland Planning & Community Development Department would like to remind residents in the Finn Hill, North Juanita and Kingsgate neighborhoods who have an RV, boat, or trailer that is both more than nine feet in height and 22 feet in length (including bumpers), to register the oversized vehicle with the City by December 31, 2011.  Oversized vehicles not registered by that date are subject to potential complaints and code enforcement.

As part of the adopted annexation zoning regulations, residents in these neighborhoods who owned an oversized vehicle prior to June 1, 2011 and have had it parked on the property where they live are eligible for this one-time registration.  Kirkland Zoning Code prohibits the parking of an oversized vehicle on residential property but as part of the annexation, a one-time exception is being allowed for annexation area residents.

This allowance does not take the place of any private restrictions, such as covenants, conditions, and restrictions; nor does it allow the parking of oversized vehicles within public right-of-way.

The City will respond to formal complaints about oversized vehicle storage and about unregistered oversized vehicles.

Download the Registration Form and submit it to the Planning & Community Development Department by December 31, 2011.  For questions, call the Department at 425-587-3225 or email planninginfo@kirklandwa.gov.
