The Green Kirkland Partnership will host the City of Kirkland’s annual Arbor Day celebration and forest restoration at Juanita Bay Park on Saturday, November 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Immediately following the planting, volunteers are invited to join Kirkland Mayor Joan McBride and Washington Department of Natural Resources Linden Mead in a commemorative tree planting ceremony. Tools, gloves and light refreshments will be provided.  The Park is located at 2201 Market Street, Kirkland. For event information, contact Deb Powers, Urban Forester, at 425-587-3261 or dpowers@kirklandwa.gov.

Celebrating Arbor Day is one of the several criteria established by the National Arbor Day Foundation for recognition as a Tree City USA.  2012 will be Kirkland’s tenth consecutive year receiving its Tree City USA designation.

The Green Kirkland Partnership is a community-based volunteer network that has been restoring natural areas in Kirkland.  The restoration work party will be managed by the EarthCorps partnership and the Native Plant Stewards.  To learn more, visit www.greenkirkland.org or sign up at www.earthcorps.org/volunteer.php .
