Seattle Times Reverses Course, Backs Hague

In an interesting turn around, The Seattle Times endorses Jane Hague for re-election to the Metropolitan King County Council. In the primary, The Times endorsed Richard Mitchell for the District 6 seat. Now, after further examination of Mitchell, The Times reveres course and endorses Jane Hague in the general election.

The change comes in part because of ads run by the Mitchell campaign that The Times viewed as over the line. The Times says, "Shortly after endorsing Mitchell, we noticed his campaign ads against Hague and another primary challenger, John Creighton. They were nasty to the point of being offensive. Mitchell approved them."

Another factor in their endorsement was that Hague is a moderate, and she more closely fits the Eastside district that is described in as being more "purple" than hard "blue."
