Kirkland Mayor Joan McBride Proclaims October 9-15 "Fire Prevention Week"

Families encouraged to practice Fire Safety at home

At the City Council meeting on October 4, Kirkland Mayor Joan McBride proclaimed October 9-15 to be “Fire Prevention Week.”  Since 1925, the President of the United States has signed a proclamation each year pronouncing a week of observance for fire prevention.  This year, the educational theme being promoted by the National Fire Protection Association is “PROTECT YOUR FAMILY FROM FIRE.”  The Mayor’s proclamation encourages residents of Kirkland to practice home escape plans, check their smoke detectors, and eliminate fire hazards from their homes.  For more information, contact Grace Steuart, Fire Marshal, at 425-587-3660 or gsteuart@kirklandwa.gov.
