Supporters of Kirkland's first off-leash dog park are organizing weekend work parties to turn their dream of a dog park into reality. There will be at least four work parties being held almost every Saturday until the project is finished. Currently we are working on clearing the blackberry vines and blackberry rootballs. Later work parties will involve laying down cardboard or fabric to block the return of the blackberry and then spreading a layer of hog fuel on top.
The work party schedule is as follows, with the first one being THIS SATURDAY!
- September 24, 1:00 pm — 4:00 pm
- October 8, 9:00 am — 12:00 pm
- October 15, 1:00 pm — 4:00 pm
- October 22, 1:00 pm — 4:00 pm
Work party participants should dress for the weather. Work parties will continue under most weather conditions, including rain, in the hope of opening the dog park this fall.
Bring heavy loppers, a shovel, or other tools. Wear boot and work gloves.
The park site is located at 11225 NE 120th St. in Totem Lake. Parking is along NE 120th Street (near the Municipal Court) on the street.
