Redmond Transformer Fire Causes Power Outage for 25,000 Area Residents

The Redmond Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 12:20 p.m. this afternoon when a caller reported a fire in the 9400 block of Willows Road.

The fire appears to be caused by mineral oil from a high-voltage transformer at the Puget Sound Substation.  It was extinguished by Port of Seattle and Redmond Fire Departments.  There were no injuries and no suspected criminal activity.

Duvall Police, Kirkland Police, and Redmond Police Explorers assisted Redmond Police with initial response and traffic.  Kirkland Fire, Redmond Public Works, Redmond Planning, and the Washington Department of Ecology also responded, assuring there was no further damage.
