It's Primary Season in Kirkland - Chuck Hinson Enters City Council Race Against Sternoff, Gardiner

The general election may be in November, but with the June 10 filing deadline rapidly approaching, the race for Kirkland City Council Position Number 2 is heating up. On Monday of this week, Kingsgate resident Jason Gardiner filed to challenge incumbent Kirkland City Councilmember Bob Sternoff for Position Number 2. Then on Thursday, Chuck Hinson of the Norkirk neighborhood filed with the county, setting in motion a primary runoff on August 16 to determine which two of the three candidates will proceed to the general election in November.

On May 9, 2011 Toby Nixon of Kingsgate had filed for City Council Position Number 4, a seat held by incumbent Jessica Greenway. Incumbent Dave Asher (Position Number Six) remains unopposed as of this writing.

Of course, all bets are off as to wether the races will remain as stated or if candidates will play musical chairs and switch seats. The filing deadline is not until the afternoon of Friday, June 10, 2011.

Stay tuned...
