News from KTUB | Senior Projects and Benefit Shows

The past few weeks KTUB has been filled with positive energy and youth driven events as teens' hard work culminate in senior projects and benefit shows.  Highlights over the last few weeks have included an Art Show and Poetry Slam, as well as a Benefit Concert to support the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

On April 15th, senior Amina Chinnell-Mateen hosted a mixed art night with vocal performers, beat poets, dancers, and other performers.  Amina also debuted her own original songs that had been written and recorded in KTUB’s own voyager studio.  A crowd of over 40 attended, many fellow student from Lake Washington, turned out to support Amina’s unique senior project.

On Friday, April 22nd several KTUB teens saw their efforts come together in a night of great music, awareness, and support.  With over 150 of their friends, family, and community members filling KTUB, bands and performers united to raise over $800 dollars, all of which will be donated to the Foundation Fighting Blindness.  Much of the success can be attributed to the shows teen organizers John Thornburg and Ryan Cox, as well as the talents of the performers Lauren Kulesa, The Articles, Odd Rodger, Jar Of Rain, Fringe Shift, and Shotty.
