The Denny Creek Neighborhood Alliance is planning a removal of invasive species in the Juanita Woodlands on Saturday, March 19. Volunteers are asked to pitch in and bring garden tools to remove blackberries, laurel, holly and ivy. Everyone is asked meet at 9 am in the parking lot behind Fire Station 25 at the corner of Juanita Drive and 76th Place NE.
Denny Creek Neighborhood Alliance is a non-profit environmental organization that led the campaign by area residents to purchase the 40 acre parcel of land known as the Juanita Woodlands.
In January, volunteers planted 2500 trees to help re-forest the area and replace diseased trees, as reported in this story: http://www.kirklandviews.com/archives/23797.
