LWYSA BU-17 Boys "Pirates" team places second in Washington State Recreational Cup

The BU-17 Pirates of the Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association won four straight games in the 2010 Recreational Cup tournament to become District 2 Champions. Advancing to State competition for the 4th time in the past five years, the Pirates enjoyed their most successful run yet. The team advanced to the tournament's semifinal to face last year's winner, the HYSC Crushers. The Pirates beat the Crushers 2-0 to earn a spot in the Recreational Cup Final. The Pirates narrowly lost in the final game to the CW Rockets 3-4. Including both regular season and tournament games, the Pirates finished the 2010 season with a combined 15-2-1 record. This high-scoring team scored a total of 77 goals, while allowing only 17.
