Vacancy on Kirkland’s Tourism Committee

Applications Due October 27

The City of Kirkland seeks applicants for its Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC).  Organizations involved in activities authorized to be funded by lodging tax revenue are invited to propose representatives for appointment to the Committee.  The LTAC advises the City Council on allocating the lodging excise tax fund for tourism and is comprised of seven voting members.  Applications are available at the information counter at City Hall, 123 5th Avenue; by telephone at (425) 587-3190; or on the City’s website at Applications may be submitted via mail to City Hall, e-mail to or fax 425-587-3198 by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010.

State statute establishes the specific makeup of the LTAC Committee.  The Kirkland LTAC consists of one member of the Kirkland City Council, who serves as chair, three representatives of organizations representing businesses required to collect the lodging tax, and three representatives of organizations involved in activities which are eligible for lodging tax funding or local agencies involved in tourism promotion.  Membership terms of the LTAC are reviewed annually by the City Council.  The Committee generally meets as needed.

Beginning in 2002, a one percent excise tax has been collected on charges for lodging and motel room fees.  The “lodging tax” funds tourism promotion and acquisition or operation of tourism related facilities.  For more information on LTAC, go to (Select: Tourism Program).
