Nathan Brand, a Lake Washington High School Senior, was the driving force behind a special tribute to those lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. With the help from friends and other volunteers, Brand gathered around a flag memorial in Peter Kirk Park with 2,977 flags representing the lost souls of that fateful day. The effort was a part of the "Never Forget Project" from the Young Americans Foundation (yaf.org). A crowd gathered around the memorial at 9:11 am, and shared memories of a day which we will never forget. The flag memorial was in place outside the Teen Union Building just for the day.
