News Updates for KITH Charity Dinner and Auction October 2nd

8th annual dinner and auction to benefit KITH (Kirkland Interfaith Transitions in Housing) has two news updates:

  1. Synergy Construction, Inc. is presenting sponsor for this event, Master of Ceremonies is Jim Hutchinson, President of the Board of The Greater Kirkland Chamber of Commerce and , the Auctioneer is Patrick O’Brien.  There will be dancing after the auction for those so inclined to music provided by Auction Reader/DJ Troy McVicker of EventSourceNW.
  2. Most importantly, KITH really needs help with donations of silent and live auction items in order to raise the funds needed to assist homeless families in our community. Family homelessness made the front page in the Seattle Times on Sunday. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2012722794_homelessness_partners.html.

Last year, KITH had to turn away 1,025 families due to lack of capacity. But we are making a profound impact with the resources available. In 2009,  KITH assisted 47 households (125 individuals) with direct housing and case management assistance; 98 households with food help; 75 households with holiday food and gifts; and we served over 3000 meals to the hungry at our Community Supper.  92% of our operating budget is privately raised. Our October 2nd dinner and auction will fund nearly 25% of our budget. Every single donation is valued and KITH stewards all donations carefully, with only 11% of our income going to Administrative & Management costs, 12% to Event costs, and 77% going directly to Programs.

We need and very much appreciate the support of the Kirkland community to carry on the work KITH has been doing since 1989, helping families and individuals transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Thanks for your help!
