A King County Solid Waste Division (KCSWD) construction project at the Houghton Transfer Station, 11724 NE 60th Street, will restrict public access to the station starting on Monday, July 26 through mid-December 2010. On weekdays, residential customers will be redirected to other solid waste facilities. On Saturdays and Sundays, the station will be open to public access but will be operating at limited capacity. Residential customers are advised to expect delays, use caution, and are urged consider an alternative disposal option.
Alternative disposal options include: Factoria Transfer Station – 13800 SE 32nd St., Bellevue Renton Transfer Station – 3021 NE 4th St., Renton Shoreline Transfer Station – 2300 N. 165th St, Shoreline
The construction project will improve safety and help reduce impacts on neighbors and the surrounding community. Major improvements include raising the transfer building roof; the construction of a sound barrier wall; the construction of a pathway on the north side of NE 60th St between 116th Ave NE and 120th Ave NE; and improvements to the wastewater collection system.
