Waverly and Houghton Beach Parks to have limited lifeguard service

Limited lifeguard hours at Waverly and Houghton Park Beaches

Kirkland’s favorite summer spots are starting to get busy with volleyball players, swimmers, dog walkers and those just looking to enjoy the beauty of the city’s beach front parks.  Waverly Beach Park, 633 Waverly Way, and Houghton Beach Park, 5811 Lake Washington Blvd, swim areas are popular places, especially in warm weather.  Lifeguards will be on duty July 1 through September 6. Houghton Beach Park will have lifeguards on duty Monday through Sunday, 1 to 6 p.m.  Waverly Beach Park will be guarded Monday through Friday, 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m.  The southern portion of Juanita Beach Park, 9703 NE Juanita Drive, including the swim area, is closed due to the construction of pedestrian, environmental and facility improvements.  Swim lessons and open swims, including Friday Family Fun Nights (June 25 through August 13), are in full swing at the Peter Kirk Pool, 202 Third Street.  For more information about Kirkland’s parks and activities at the Peter Kirk Pool, visit www.ci.kirkland.wa.us/parks or call 425-587-3300.
