In November, fifth grade students at Juanita Elementary went to IslandWood, an outdoor learning center on Bainbridge Island. Since then, the students have extended their knowledge to help inform the Juanita Community about the local Juanita Creek Watershed. The report card has come in for the creek as being poor in three areas: streamside conditions, in-stream habitat, and fish and wildlife. Students are in the process of creating projects to share ideas on how to improve the conditions of the watershed. This effort could lead to improving quality of life around the watershed. These projects include videos, posters, and even a dance. Students will present at IslandWood at their "Make a Difference" summit on May 25, as well as at a Juanita Creek homeowners workshop to be held at Juanita Elementary on May 25.
