The international delegates of Juanita High School under advisor Paul Miller took up their rallying cry of “World Peace or Else” for the 10th Annual Washington State Model United Nations (WASMUN) conference held at the University of Washington on April 16 and 17. Thirty-nine representatives of countries large and small joined over 500 students from as far away as San Diego as they worked out solutions to problems like obesity in the developing world, human trafficking, and Iran’s nuclear program.
Competing against schools who have MUN as a class instead of a club, the Rebels held their own, coming away with a couple of awards. New delegate Tim Johnson showed everyone that your country’s prestige doesn’t matter (he was Tuvalu) by passing his committee’s first resolution and taking an Honorable Mention for Best Delegate.
