City of Kirkland announces vacancy on Civil Service Commission

Applications due May 20 for unique volunteer opportunity

The City of Kirkland seeks applicants for a position on its Civil Service Commission.  The vacancy is for an unexpired six-year term, expiring December 31, 2012.  The Civil Service Commission makes rules to implement the civil service system, authorizes the conduct and grading of civil services tests, investigates complaints about the enforcement of the civil service system, conducts hearings regarding discipline of civil service employees, and assures that employees are selected or promoted from lists maintained by the Commission.  Interested citizens are invited to apply for an appointment.  Applicants must be at least 18 year of age, be registered voters, and have resided in the City of Kirkland for the past three years.  Completed applications must be received by the City Clerk prior to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010.  More information about this vacancy and an application may be obtained at the information counter at City Hall, 123 Fifth Avenue; by telephone at (425) 587-3190; or on the City’s website at www.ci.kirkland.wa.us.
