Looking for plans for Mothers Day? Watch the Sound of Music on a GIGANTIC screen that covers the stage at the Kirkland Performance Center, and sing along to all your favorite things - I mean songs! Afraid you don't know the words? Don't be - all the songs are sub-titled. If you want to go all out, be sure to dress as your favorite Sound of Music character for our Costume Contest. Goodie bags filled with fun things for audience participation and wine with your popcorn will be available at the concession bar. This is a FUN event, but its fun with a CAUSE. Currently, many mothers and daughters in the village of Lempira, Honduras spend their days carrying water on their heads from the water source to their homes. Often girls don't go to school because of this responsibility.
Through the organization Water 1st, this village now has a pipeline and the structure to bring water to the village - but each household needs a connecting basin. We want to make sure that each household has a water basin of their own - and YOU can help make this happen, while having a LOT of fun at the same time!!
All proceeds from this event will go towards this project through Water 1st International. Donations accepted at the door by cash, check, Visa or MC. No-host bar, popcorn and snacks will be available.
$20+ donation per person at the door appreciated. (This amount will pay for half a basin for a family in Lempira, Honduras.)
Event organizer, Julie Metteer, was inspired by her work through Leadership Eastside and a book entitled “One” which her husband purchased for her at Simplicity Décor in downtown Kirkland. This event will impact the lives of more than 850 people and she is hoping to raise enough money to complete the entire water project!
