At its March 2 meeting, the Kirkland City Council unanimously approved the temporary expansion of membership to its Planning Commission, Park Board, Human Services Advisory Committee by two seats and the Library Board by one seat.  The expansion allows for residents of the annexation area to participate.  Applications are being accepted now for terms that will expire on March 31, 2012.  Completed applications must be received by the City Clerk prior to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010.  Interviews with and appointments by the City Council are scheduled for the evening of April 8.  More specific information about these vacancies and applications is available at the information counter at City Hall, 123 Fifth Avenue, by telephone at (425) 587-3190, or on the City’s website at www.ci.kirkland.wa.us.

“The Council desires to have early opportunities for the residents of the Finn Hill, North Juanita and Kingsgate neighborhoods to become involved in their new government,” notes Mayor Joan McBride.  The City’s Cultural Council, Design Review Board, Parking Advisory Board and Transportation Commission currently allow for non-city residents to serve as members.
