Day of Dance Kicks Off at Lynnwood Convention Center Feb. 27

Chat with a doctor, learn to manage stress and dance your way to good health at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center’s Day of Dance, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 27, at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th Street SW. Both the event and parking are free.

More than 80,000 people are expected to participate in Day of Dance events organized by Spirit of Women hospitals across the country. The Spirit of Women, a coalition of medical centers, creates fascinating and fun health education events. The partnership of Evergreen and Spirit of Women provides a multi-faceted approach that encourages people to be proactive in their family’s health care. Evergreen is the only Spirit of Women partner in Washington.

Evergreen physicians and health experts will be conducting informal Q & A sessions around a variety of topics including stroke prevention, stress management and heart health. There will be an interactive display featuring a da Vinci Surgical Robot. Look for free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose tests; chair massages; wellness vendors; healthy snacks and tours of Evergreen’s Mobile Digital Mammography Coach. Molly Shen of KOMO Television will be the celebrity emcee and Jen Pirak of STAR 101.5 will be at the event, broadcasting live throughout the day and meeting fans.

Dance groups from the Eastside and Seattle will demonstrate salsa, ballet, tap, jazz and other dance forms. Following each performance there will be a chance for attendees to learn a few moves. Children can unwind in the Kids’ Area by playing on an obstacle course, coloring, listening to their own heartbeats and learning how to properly wash their hands.

There will be prize drawings and a chance to sign up for a free membership in the Evergreen Spirit of Women program. The first 500 guests will receive free goodie bags and bouncing-heart headbands that were featured in the Evergreen Day of Dance video.
