Excavation Work Begins on Kirkland Transit Center

Kirkland Transit Center Construction Update - Dec. 17, 2009

Excavation work begins on 3rd Street Starting today and Friday construction crews are ready to begin excavation work to install a new water main under 3rd Street between Park Lane and Kirkland Avenue.  Excavation will start at Park Lane and 3rd Street and will continue south along 3rd Street toward Kirkland Avenue near the Heathman Hotel.

This work is being performed in cooperation with City of Kirkland in order to reduce multiple construction impacts on 3rd Street.  Water main work is expected to impact service to some nearby residents and businesses.  Advance notice for any service disruptions will be provided to impacted customers by Kirkland’s Public Works department.

The excavation work follows saw cutting and exploratory drilling performed this week and last week in preparation for work on the water main.  The northbound lane on 3rd Street will continue to remain open to traffic as the work is being performed.
