On Tuesday night, Chief of Police Harris and half a dozen other officers fielded a Q&A on crime at City Hall in response to concerns raised by Norkirk and Market neighbors. The standing room only crowd learned that statistics show that crime rates regarding burglaries and car prowling are in line with previous years and have not spiked of late.
The officers described several recent incidents where homeowners and car owners had left doors and windows unlocked, leaving an opportunity for the bad guys. They also advised that Kirklanders call 9-1-1 whenever there is someone suspicious in their neighborhood. Neighbors are advised to keep photos and serial numbers of electronics and expensive items in case they are later recovered after a burglary.
We thank Chief Harris, officers and staff for holding this Q & A.
