A fun opportunity to increase participation and excitement surrounding the Lee Johnson Auto Family’s annual 4th of July Parade with the theme “It’s a Small World”.
Celebrate Kirkland, in partnership with the Kirkland Downtown Association, is excited to announce the inclusion of a $1000 first place cash prize for the best parade entry in the annual Lee Johnson Auto Family 4th of July Parade. Included in the contest is a $500 cash prize for the second favorite entry and all entries will be competing to receive high scores from an independent panel of judges.
The parade theme for the year is “It’s a Small World”, drawing inspiration from Walt Disney and the fact that it has been 50 years since the exhibit opened in Disneyland. Known to many as an international symbol of unity and a celebration of the world’s children, this theme was picked in hopes of inspiring broad cultural participation from all of those in our community and to create an event that can be enjoyed by all. Parade entries will be judged on a scale of one to five on how well they meet the criteria in the categories of parade theme, presentation and appearance, showmanship, and creativity. The entry, whether it is a float or otherwise, with the best scores will be announced and given their prize at the picnic following the parade, which is held at the Kirkland Marina, and includes food trucks, music, and more!
The entries can be anything from a float to a marching band, and all entries are encouraged to participate by signing up on the Celebrate Kirkland website (www.celebratekirkland.org). The entry fee for the parade is $50 for a non-profit (501c) and $100 for political candidates, for-profit organizations, and all others. Donations are happily accepted to help create the best experience possible, but are not required for entry into the parade. All entries will be notified of their acceptance and parade route placement by noon on July 3rd.
Do not pass up the chance to be a part of this year’s Lee Johnson Auto Family 4th of July parade, as the friendly competition will bring out the best and brightest parade floats Kirkland has ever seen. With the support of the Kirkland community and generous sponsors, the Kirkland 4th of July celebration has continually brightened the 4th of July for the community so grab friends, neighbors, or coworkers and get started on a parade entry today!
